Should you consider replacing your furnace based on age alone? My furnace (Homart) is very VERY old, but runs well, keeps the house warm and, with the exception of the pilot light going out (maybe once a year), has given me very little problems. Also, the utility bill is very manageable. At the advice of a service technician some years ago, I did have an "upgrade" done to the wiring, but nothing major has ever gone wrong. I've been told the furnace will still be blowing out heat long after I'm dead and gone. However, I've also been told that parts for a furnace this old are hard to find and/or practically nonexistent (that's the part that worries me). What's your advice?
They will always tell you to replace it even if it's just two burnt control wires
